PAX provides global education and exchange opportunities for students, host families, schools, and communities to open doors, embrace cultures, and become family.

PAX is currently looking for a Community Coordinator (local representative) in and around Mason City, IA. We are seeking commission-based independent contractors to connect international high school students with host families and local schools. This flexible role offers meaningful work and exciting incentives like trips to amazing overseas destinations!

The rewards of being a community coordinator are numerous – especially if you love working with international students and enjoy interacting with people in your community!

The community coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to:

• Recruit and screen volunteer host families.
• Collaborate with local high schools to arrange student enrollments.
• Provide support to students and families through monthly check-ins during the school year.
• Promote cultural exchange in your community.

As an independent contractor, your income is limited only by how many students you place. We think it is ideal for a community coordinator to place and support three to six students each year – though some place as few as one student and others place as many as ten or more.

PAX was founded in 1990 as a small force for good. The organization's first headquarters was in a private home. The dream was to enable both deserving young people from around the world and their U.S. host families to share not only their customs, language, and points of view, but also the very essence of what it means to be family. During the first years, the program brought a small number of Spanish high school students to the U.S., working one-on-one to ensure a powerful, cross-cultural learning experience.

PAX now serves participants from more than 70 countries using those same values and offering both an inbound and outbound high school program. To date, more than 25,000 students have successfully completed the PAX program.

Partner educational organizations around the world select PAX students, who subsequently apply to the PAX program. Many of PAX's relationships with partner organizations are nearly as old as PAX itself. These organizations have become trusted friends as have countless others (alumni, former host families, local representatives, school officials, and many more) within a large and diverse PAX community.
