  • Acerca de

The Walk a Mile Program pairs low- income people one-on-one with public policy makers to learn more about each other's lives. The goal is to involve low-income constituents in the policy process and allow policy makers greater personal insight into how public assistance programs, such as food stamps and welfare reform affect individuals.

During the one month program, the participants share activities from each other's life, speak weekly on the phone, and the policy maker attempts to feed their family on a welfare budget.

Walk a Mile trains local organizations to create this educational experience in their communities.
