Mountain Area Residential Facilities, Inc

We are a non-profit organization located in the mountains of Western North Carolina serving adults with developmental disabilities in residential settings. We operate two homes within Asheville, NC, serving 13 individuals. We provide all services related to daily living, such as transportation, medical, nutrition and safety needs, as well as provide programmatic teaching geared towards increasing each resident's general sense of independence in daily living. These programs include, but are not limited to, hygiene, finance management, coping skills, safety skills, reading, cooking, cleaning, and interpersonal skills. We place great value on the importance of community involvement in resident's lives, and facilitate regular and various communtiy activities as well, such as bowling, trips to the movies or the park, year-round involvement with Special Olympics, summer vacations, volunteering in the community, dining out with friends, and others. We seek to create a comfortable home atmosphere for all residents, while also encouraging residents to learn and gain greater personal independence daily.
