Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles

The Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with an independent board of directors and Mayor Karen Bass serving as an advisor. Founded in 2014 under then-Mayor Eric Garcetti’s administration, the Mayor’s Fund was created to bring business, philanthropy, nonprofits, and local government together to help address urgent needs facing Los Angeles.

Since taking office, Mayor Karen Bass has made reducing and eliminating homelessness a top priority for the city, but success cannot be achieved unless we prevent Angelenos from becoming homeless in the first place. Consequently, the Mayor’s Fund was repurposed in 2023 to exclusively focus on preventing at-risk Angelenos from becoming homeless through targeted outreach, case management and expanded legal services.

Through strong partnerships with local agencies, the Mayor’s Fund aims to ensure that Angelenos at greatest risk of becoming homeless have access to every source of assistance possible. We are working with a number of community organizations and health centers, veterans’ and child welfare organizations, legal service providers, and government programs to address this issue in a holistic, nimble manner.
