3ie's vision is to improve lives through impact evaluation. Our mission is to increase development effectiveness through better use of evidence in developing countries. We aim to

• Generate new evidence of what works
• Synthesise and disseminate this evidence
• Build a culture of evidence-based policy-making
• Develop capacity to produce and use impact evaluations

3ie’s work focuses on generating high quality evidence that contributes to effective policies for the poor.

In our dual role as funding agency and knowledge broker, we carry out several activities and offer multiple services, including our Impact Evaluation Program, Replication Programme, and Systematic Review Programme. We offer different kinds of grant windows to fund research that helps us build a body of evidence and understand what works, why and under what circumstances in particular sectors and sub-sectors.

We also help researchers better communicate the findings of their studies to influence policy, and offer funding for individuals to attend workshops and conferences related to impact evaluations and systematic reviews.
