OUR HISTORY

Southeast Community Services was organized in 1972 through Mayor Richard Lugar's office as a consortium of area agencies and neighborhood groups to deliver needed services to the near southeast side of Indianapolis. Originally known as the Southeast Multi-Service Center, the organization shortened its name to Southeast Community Services in 2000. Since our founding 46 years ago, we have been committed to addressing the diverse needs of residents, from youths to seniors. Our goal is to help residents lead dignified, fulfilling, and self-sufficient lives through the promotion of financial stability.

OUR APPROACH

At Southeast Community Services we believe that everyone is "naturally creative, resourceful, and whole" and that belief shapes the way we interact with our neighbors. As a Center for Working Families, Southeast Community Services provides bundled services to help support our neighbors in multiple areas while they work to make a change in their lives. Our services help our neighbors break away from living paycheck to paycheck by connecting them to the resources they need to change their lives. We use the co-active coaching model to help our neighbors understand the opportunities available to them and make informed decisions about ways they can manage their finances, advance employment options, and participate in educational classes and trainings.

Southeast Community Services uses bundled services to support you as you begin moving towards your goals. Our team can't achieve success for you, but will function as a support system to help you navigate your options and make sure you have access to resources that can assist you along your journey.
