About C-10
C-10 Research & Education Foundation (C-10) is an Amesbury-based nonprofit that works for the safety of people and the natural environment surrounding the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant. Hundreds of thousands of people in New England—from the Seacoast, all the way to metro Concord, Portland and Boston—live in Seabrook’s 50-mile ingestion exposure pathway.
Each and every day, C-10 is holding Seabrook Station and federal regulators accountable to providing the highest level of safety, in order to ensure the very livability of our beautiful region.
These efforts have become even more critical due to a serious, irreversible type of concrete degradation called alkali-silica reaction that is impacting Seabrook’s key safety structures, and the increasing risk from severe weather events due to climate change.
C-10 operates a real-time radiological monitoring network under contract with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and in partnership with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. The network measures airborne beta and gamma radiation as well as wind-speed and direction. Monitoring helps state officials understand ongoing exposure from permitted radiological releases. It could also help them protect the public in the unlikely event of an accident at Seabrook.
