    Our mission: To advance the integration and self-determination of people with disabilities through community services, education and opportunity development in the Eastern Iowa Corridor and the surrounding region.

    About us: Access to Independence of the Eastern Iowa Corridor is a Center for Independent Living. CILs are non-profit, non-residential community-based organizations run by and for people with all types of disabilities. All ages, ethnicities, and cultures, including deaf culture are eligible for services and programs provided by centers.

    Four Core Services:

    1. Advocacy (Individual and Systems): We provide self-advocacy training for persons with disabilities, as well as supporting their efforts to defend legal, human and civil right on local, state, and federal levels.

    2. Independent Living Skills: Training provided to help people with disabilities gain skills to live more independently, such as personal budgeting, finding community resources, how to use public transportion.

    3. Information and Referral: Provided to increase the consumer's knowledge of community resources, programs, and disability related issues.

    4. Peer Support: Persons with disabilities are available to work with other persons with disabilities as peer models. Provides the opportunity to share LIFE EXPERIENCES AND SUPPORT for each other in practical day to day problem solving.
