Schools That Can Milwaukee, Inc. (STCM; www.stcmilwaukee.org) leads an unprecedented cross-sector collaboration of talented leaders from traditional district, independent charter, and private voucher schools serving predominantly low-income students. Today, STCM is working with more than 210 leaders from 42 urban schools serving 17,000 Milwaukee students.

STCM Mission & Core Values

Our mission is to ensure every single child in Milwaukee has the opportunity to attend a high-quality school. We engage, empower, and connect transformational school leaders to foster more high-quality schools for the kids and families who need them most, increasing opportunity and closing the achievement gap.

BELIEF: This work is personal. We share a deep belief that all children can learn and succeed, and that each deserves opportunity – particularly low- income students of color that are typically least-served by our community. We share a passion for empowering school leaders to provide that opportunity. This work is hard, but we approach it with joy and optimism.

TEAM: The success of our team rests on our ability to work as a unit. We care about each other, invest in one another, and grow together – even when it’s hard.

IMPACT: Our work is a matter of life and death for the children in our city’s schools. We plan carefully, execute at the highest possible level, evaluate our results, reflect critically, and adjust to help us get better.

EQUITY: We believe equity means doing whatever it takes to provide the access and support our students, school leaders, and team members need to achieve excellence. We envision an organization and school leadership that reflects and celebrates the diversity of our city.
