The Aurora Humanitarian Initiative is a foundation that addresses on-the-ground humanitarian challenges around the world with a focus on helping the most destitute. Aurora’s flagship initiative, the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, is one of the fastest-growing and most innovative humanitarian prizes in the world. Granted annually to an individual whose actions have had an exceptional impact on preserving human life and advancing humanitarian causes, the Aurora Prize Laureate is honored with a $1 million award and has the unique opportunity to continue the cycle of giving by nominating and supporting organizations that help people in need. Through the Prize, Aurora has supported 46 projects by 25 humanitarian organizations in 20 countries and territories.

The Prize Selection Committee includes renowned human rights and humanitarian leaders including Mary Robinson, Ernesto Zedillo, Samantha Power, Leymah Gbowee, Shirin Ebadi, Hina Jilani, Bernard Kouchner, Dele Olojede, and George Clooney, among others.

In addition to the Prize, Aurora organizes and promotes the Aurora Dialogues, a platform for the world’s leading humanitarians, academics, philanthropists, business leaders, and civil society to come together for a series of insightful discussions about some of today’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
