The Hero Lab

The Hero Lab is a makerspace dedicated to nurturing a sustainable culture of confidence, courage, and innovation amongst low-income urban youth in Mumbai. Our goal is to harness a bottom-up movement dedicated to context-driven innovation, transform city waste into social solutions, build community through co-creation, and teach a bold way of transformative thinking sustainable throughout life. Our 4C Model (Create, Cultivate, Challenge, Connect) synthesizes empirically-backed methodologies including Project-Based Learning, Collective Action Design, Participatory Action Research, and Positive Education to give youth the power needed to innovate in their communities. We also have a unique youth-leading-youth program. We add dignity, growth, and confidence to the lives of our teachers- young adults with a passion for social change- through method training, skills identification, and emotional security. Our dream is to enable every child to find the hero within.
