CENTRAL VENTURA COUNTY FIRE SAFE COUNCIL

In 2009, a diverse group of visionary farmers, ranchers, and business owners came together with local fire protection agencies with a common interest - to protect the natural resources and communities in Ventura County from wildfire and to exchange information, and foster fire protection and fire safety.

One year later, these leaders created the CVCFSC non-profit organization as a direct outcome of these informal gatherings.

The CVCFSC is committed to keeping Ventura County’s homes, businesses, ranches, orchards, neighborhoods and local communities to be more fire resilient, safer and better prepared to withstand the threat of wildfire through the following countywide programs and services:

• One Step Ahead - Chipper Days: Facilitate bimonthly vegetation management and fuel reduction programs in the Wildland Urban Interface.
• Outreach and Education: Provide fire safety education and awareness programs throughout the county.
• Getting Prepared for Wildfire: Enable residents with properties at risk of wildfire to attend 2-hour community meetings that discuss wildfire risks and defensible space.
