Brighter Bites

Our goal is to change behavior among underserved children and their families to prevent obesity and achieve long-term health. We use a three-part formula rooted in science and developed for impact: produce distribution + nutrition education + fun food experience. Brighter Bites is a comprehensive, multi-component school, preschool, after-school, and summer camp program that utilizes reliable access to fruits and vegetables, nutrition education, and consistent exposure to recipes and health messages that feature fresh food. We aim to build demand for fresh produce in the communities we serve with repeated exposure to a variety of fruits and vegetables and easy, family-friendly recipes to keep kids asking for more. Brighter Bites is rooted in the belief that if we give our kids something better to munch on, they will. And the lives they lead will be as vibrant as the foods they crave. Since 2012, Brighter Bites has delivered over 14 million pounds of fresh fruits and veggies and 100,000s of nutrition education materials to more than 30,000 families in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and New York City.
