Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide sensitivity and support for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Hospice care seeks to enable patients to carry on an alert, pain free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality at home or in a home setting.To this end, Hospice of the Palmetto State has developed its philosophy based on the following principles.
1. We believe Hospice affirms life, health, and the dignity of persons in situations of terminal illness.
2. We believe it possible that the period of terminal illness can be one of achievement, reconciliation, and fulfillment of the dying patient and family.
3. We believe that Hospice care should be available to any person regardless of race, color, creed, handicap, age, sex, religion, or economic status.
