Our Mission

With our limited resources our mission is to take care of our 55 rescue cats that currently live in our house. (Our house is the sanctuary). Plus we have 25 garden cats and we also provide food and water to 200 street cats through our 38 feeding stations dotted around the town of Lakki - a 7 minute-walk - from where we live in Ammoudaries.

Through a Go Fund me campaign we can fund the medical of the street cats of Lakki. If they become a garden or house cat we take over the medical bills.

Our further mission would be to create - with substantial funding - a cat sanctuary with a state-of-the-art medical facility to attract experienced vets that can make a difference.

The sanctuary would be a hub for TNR projects, permanent homes for the most vulnerable cats/kittens along with adoption programs.

In 2021 we decided to leave London and live permanently in Leros, an island of the Dodecanese.

The Leros Cat Foundation was funded in 2021 by Isabelle and David, to save, sterilise, and adopt street cats and or kittens.

Up until 2023 there was a free sterilization program funded by a Swedish lady. We used to sterilse every Tuesday 3 to 5 cats per week. In 2023, cat sterilization costs 20 euros per cat and we cannot afford this cost. So unfortunately, we stopped sterilizing street cats. Sadly, we see in our feeding stations with many kittens. Heart breaking. With 55 cats in our house, we cannot take anymore.

Who do we serve: but of the course the cats in our house, in the garden in the streets of Lakki. This is a full-time dedication. And let us not forget our resident garden hedgehog.

The Leros Cat Foundation has one employee, funded by Isabelle & David, we also have a dedicated person feeding the street cats of Lakki on a daily basis twice a day.

Our values are our dedication to save as many cats, and kittens as we can but at the moment, we cannot take any more cats or kittens because our house is full. Just this month we took-in 20 days old Stini but this is unfortunately and exception to the rule.
