Veteran Advocacy Project

  • Misión

The Veteran Advocacy Project provides free legal services to low-income veterans and their families, with a focus on those living with post traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, substance use issues, and other mental health conditions. By removing barriers to housing, health care, and income, VAP empowers veterans and their families to achieve the stability needed to regain their health and rebuild their lives.

    Acerca de

The Veteran Advocacy Project was founded in 2010 and has served thousands of veterans and their family members over the years. We specialize in working with veterans who have been cut off from VA health care and benefits because of a less-than-honorable discharge, often due to misconduct that was actually a symptom of PTS or traumatic brain injury. Our collaborations include homelessness prevention with Jericho Project and Services for the UnderServed, medical-legal partnerships with Vet Centers and Community Healthcare Network, a system of federally qualified health centers, and outreach and services for veterans and families with Black Veterans for Social Justice. From intake at Rikers to hearings in D.C., VAP fights for the benefits veterans have earned.
