The Local Community Food Centre

The Local invites the community in and around Stratford, Ontario to come together to grow, share, cook, access and advocate for good food for everyone.

Our programs, staff, volunteers and community members reflect the belief that dignified access to healthy food is a right that should (and can!) be fulfilled for everyone in Canada.

We also believe that everyone can benefit from learning how to cook healthy food from scratch even on a tight budget, and demonstrate how community gardening, low cost markets, and community meals can help with food while also promoting health and social connectedness.

And while we continue to develop innovative program approaches to addressing food insecurity, we also seek to empower those whose right to food has been violated to have a voice to challenge the conditions, policies and structures that maintain this inequality.
