Our mission is to build, and be a local hub for, peer-led recovery communities.
About Peer Support Space
Peer Support Space was founded as a peer-led organization, that exists outside of the current system, where we use our lived experience to support and hold space for one another as we navigate our unique journeys with life struggles, mental illness and/or substance misuse challenges, grief, or other obstacles to mental wellness. We use, and help others use, the power of lived experience to support, educate, and guide one another while providing additional, free options for mental wellness.
We acknowledge that the current emotional health system continues to repeatedly fail specific communities disproportionately. We focus on catching individuals that fall through the cracks of our emotional health system. We help those (18+) navigating mental illness and/or substance misuse challenges, grief, or other obstacles to wellness. This is done while focusing on communities that show statistically higher rates of emotional health challenges and/or lack of access to mental wellness options. At Peer Support Space, we have a deep focus on filling gaps for services that just don't exist. We consistently do community needs assessments to identify who lacking access to emotional health services so we can support those communities in creating their own peer-led recovery resources.
Peer Support Space is 100% led for and by those with lived experience and their loved ones. All of our services and initiatives are led for and by those the services are intended for. Every community is unique and nobody can understand needs and nuances like members from the community itself. Due to this, we don’t just focus on training people with lived emotional health experiences, we focus on uplifting individuals and host services created and led by and for the communities they serve.
