Misión
Start 1 Spark envisions a future where every student has access to the extracurricular programs offered at school so they can be a part of their school community. By participating in art, music, clubs, and athletics, students develop skills necessary to thrive in adulthood such as teamwork, communication, cooperation, and leadership. As a nonprofit supporting Henrico and Chesterfield middle schools, Start 1 Spark believes extracurricular activities are not a luxury but a foundation for relationships and mentorships that give a student a sense of belonging.
Acerca de
Founded in 2021, Start 1 Spark partners with area middle schools in strengthening their extracurricular programs. With our support, a music program has more than doubled in size. A drama program that was dormant for more than four years has been relaunched with the assistance of volunteers building set pieces. In our most popular program, Fuel for Fun, Start 1 Spark and volunteers have donated, assembled, and delivered over 9,750 snack kits for student-athletes on game days. With community support, Start 1 Spark plans to ignite student potential by increasing access to school extracurriculars across the Richmond region.
