Donated Goods Steward

The Donated Goods Steward will be responsible for organizing and conducting quality control of the sports equipment, music instruments, and material goods donated to Start 1 Spark. The ideal volunteer will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently. Community members frequently donate gently used items that may be used by our partner schools and students. These items still have life left in them to provide a student with proper equipment to participate in a school activity.

Start 1 Spark’s mission is to eliminate the financial costs of school extracurriculars so all students can participate in their school community. The Donated Goods Steward will directly impact our mission by ensuring the in-kind donations from the community meet the needs of our partner schools and students. This is an exciting opportunity for the volunteer to make a difference in the lives of our youth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage inventory by tracking donations in the in-kind donation spreadsheet
• Conduct quality control/quality assurance of in-kind donations to verify its usability, safety, and meets program requirements
• Clean donations and make small repairs as necessary
• Prepare donations for delivery to partner school based on requested items
• Schedule opportunities for partner schools to select in-kind donations from inventory

Requirements:

• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
• Superb customer service skills, engaging with donors and partner school staff
• Reliable and consistent in tracking inventory
• Comfortable working alone

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week, day of the week flexible but must be consistent
