Established in 1997, the organization provides affordable and accessible creative arts programming by collaborating with actors, artists, teachers, community leaders, and fellow organizations. As a resource for teachers and parents to support health, academic, and social, goals of a child, Puppetry Arts developed the Tuffy Tiger Arts In Education Initiative, the principal arts in education program of Puppetry Arts. Collaborating with professional and emerging artists in the fields of music composition, theatre, and puppetry, Theatre programs offer original musicals and plays. As a community-based cultural institution, Puppetry Arts facilitates free Theatre Community Events with continuous support from local and national businesses and partnering organizations.
Puppetry Arts has six Board Members including one full-time Chief Executive Director. The organization has one part-time administrative staff member, three teachers, an ensemble of ten New York based actors, and a two-member New York based puppet-making staff. Puppetry Arts is a member of the NYC Arts and Business Council, 5 th Avenue Business Improvement District of Park Slope, Puppeteers of America, partner with Engaging Creative Minds, partner with South Carolina Arts Commission, ASCAP, and a licensed NYC Vendor. Puppetry Arts is significant cultural institution in New York City and Charleston.
