Leave a Trail seeks to address a lack of access to equine therapy in local mainstream psychotherapy and healing programs. Equine therapies, and Hippotherapy (therapeutic use of horses to provide carefully graded motor and sensory input), are both well-respected treatments for Autism, and their benefits are now increasingly recognized as treating a much wider array of therapy needs. Seeking to meet the demand for these programs, a passionate group of horse lovers and professionals joined forces, working to provide safe, fun and affordable equine therapy programs in a beautiful setting. With many of the large horse ranches on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula facing closure, Leave a Trail has partnered with Chaparral Ranch to secure a unique, healing setting, surrounded with open space land for therapeutic riding.
