United World College Netherlands

United World College (UWC) makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. UWC schools, colleges and programmes deliver a challenging and transformational educational experience to a diverse cross section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future. UWC the Netherlands is the Dutch volunteer organisation which supports the international UWC program, is a partner in the Dutch UWC School (UWC Maastricht) as well as organises the UWC Xperience at secondary schools in the Netherlands. To support the various UWC activities the organisation receives funding from its alumni, private donors, foundations and companies. United World Colleges (UWC) is een internationale organisatie met de missie om onderwijs als bron van kracht te gebruiken om mensen, landen en culturen samen te brengen voor een vreedzame en duurzame wereld. UWC Nederland selecteert jaarlijks jongeren die op één van de 14 internationale scholen de laatste twee jaar van hun vwo gaan doen. Ook worden er korte cursussen, UWC Xperience, georganiseerd voor middelbare scholieren in Nederland. Het Nationaal Comité van UWC Nederland selecteert leerlingen op basis van motivatie en talent en geeft (gedeeltelijke) beurzen uit aan leerlingen wiens ouders/verzorgers niet het hele schoolgeld kunnen betalen. UWC is afhankelijk van een groot aantal sponsoren die deze onafhankelijke selectie mogelijk maken. Eind 2013 werd de nieuwe campus van UWC Maastricht geopend.
