The Child is Innocent

The Child is Innocent is a non-profit organization committed to providing high-quality education and leadership training to children living in Northern Uganda. The children are empowered to use their newly acquired leadership skills to help revitalized their own communities, thereby improving the lives of their families and neighbors who have been devastated by the history of conflict in Uganda.

The organization was founded in 2004 by Dr. Fred Oola, a young physician from Northern Uganda who grew up in the dire context of Uganda's civil war. Starting with 15 children and a handful of sponsors in the US, the organization has since grown to support 100 children with supporters and volunteers throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Peace has finally come to Northern Uganda. However, now, more than ever, there is a need for well-educated, thoughtful and skilled leaders to help rebuild Northern communities. This organization is committed to creating those leaders and giving children who have been given so little opportunity a chance to excel and flourish.
