    Our Mission

The Long Beach Martin Luther King Center, Inc. aims to elevate the community by providing a robust community center that delivers resources and builds authentic connections designed to extend beyond their location into the surrounding North Park neighborhood of Long Beach. The MLK Center’s Human/Social Services and Education Programs will engage participants, staff, and local partners in projects that measurably address the needs and goals of the community. The MLK Center’s practiced staff and inspired management uphold the Center’s mission by fostering an authentic culture of service.

    Our Community

Furthering compliance with New York's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, the MLK Center is in a federally designated HUBZone that meets NYSERDA's criteria for a “disadvantaged community.” In addition, the Center serves more than 2,000 youth and adults directly and reaches over 5,000 people indirectly annually, with services focused largely on “priority populations.”

    Objective

MLK Center has a unique position and capacity to facilitate New York’s just and equitable clean energy transition with programs, services, and events that remain accessible to the entire community while incorporating a focus on the needs of priority populations. Historically, the MLK Center has demonstrated more than 62 years of unprecedented success in serving the most disadvantaged and vulnerable populations in Long Beach, Oceanside, and surrounding communities.
