Since 1983 MUST has provided a safety net for Bay Area music education, offering a comprehensive variety of programs to schools, churches and community centers, ensuring that over half a million of our most underserved children Pre-K-12 receive a meaningful music education.
We work with highly skilled teaching artists and educators to deliver easy to use, hands-on programming that is free to children and low cost to pre-K-12 districts and schools. We offer in and after-school music and arts classes and professional development for teachers and teaching artists, engaging parents, families and caregivers in their children’s learning. We offer structured, positive interventions virtually and on-site, with interactive videos for teachers and families. Highly-skilled teaching artists help toddlers express themselves through music and movement, developing school readiness and social emotional skills. Our teaching artists offer residencies in and after school, including music, band, dance, theater and visual arts classes. Donors provide gently-used and new musical instruments to schools around the Bay. We have placed over a million dollars worth of instruments in the hands of children who need them most.
We reach over 3,000 San Francisco Bay Area children a year with residencies and over 50,000 more with our musical instrument donation program.
