Houston Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

Help enhance the quality of life for Harris Co. nursing home & assisted living residents by becoming a trained state-certified ombudsman and work with residents, family members, and staff to bring about change in the long-term care of elders. Ombudsmen advocate for and help residents exercise their right to dignity, self-determination and quality care. If you are able to listen compassionately and employ effective problem-solving techniques, this rewarding, long-term volunteer commitment may be for you. Initial ombudsman training, periodic continuing education, and ongoing volunteer support are provided.
