AmeriCorps Southern Tier Opportunity Corps

The AMERICORPS Southern Tier Opportunity Corps (STOC) places members in human service and workforce agencies in the Finger Lakes/Southern Tier region of upstate New York, providing critically-needed job and housing assistance to low-income individuals/families.  AmeriCorps caseworkers working on housing assistance issues would help individuals, including the homeless, access and find appropriate housing.  For unemployed economically disadvantaged individuals, service work could include providing remedial/GED education, needed casework support, and any job training/soft skills development which would increase an individual’s likelihood of employment.   Agencies are located throughout Allegheny County, New York (Belmont), as well as Steuben (Corning, Bath, Hornell), Chemung (Elmira), Tompkins (Ithaca), and Schuyler (Watkins Glen) counties.
