  • Misión

To provide a home-away-from-home and support for families with children receiving treatment through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

    Acerca de

David's House was the idea of a young boy named David Cyr who passed away at the age of five of leukemia. During his frequent hospital stays, the young boy realized that his family was lucky to live only a short drive from the hospital, but he also realized that many families resorted to sleeping in their cars or in chairs by their child's bedside. David begged his parents to take these children and families home with them; he wanted to provide comfort, a safe haven, and a place to seek cover from the painful things associated with hospitals.

A week after David passed away, in 1984, his parents began raising money for David's House. Today, the house boasts 15 child-themed bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, and 3 playrooms. Architecturally designed to feel like a cozy house as opposed to an institutional building, children and families can do just what David wished they could: find comfort in his house.
