Our mission is to bring map navigation education and experiences to children and families. Through the sport of orienteering, children develop fundamental movement skills, learn to read maps to travel from point to point, play fun games, build team and communication skills, and spend time outside. We emphasize access for all economic levels. Our educators are US SafeSport trained. We aspire to the goals Project Play and the American Development Model: fun, challenge, developmentally appropriate activities, and access for all. By getting urban kids to the woods, we have an opportunity to raise environmental awareness through direct experience.

Our programs include after-school classes (JK-5th grade), in-school programs (all grades), middle and high school teams, events open to the public, and private/corporate events. Our programs take place in parks, on school grounds, in forested areas, and (when necessary) indoors.

What will this look like in five years? We would like every child in the Boston area to try out orienteering. Those who love orienteering should have a path to deeper learning and success, and a choice of participating recreationally or competitively. We want to see a competitive high school league with a regular schedule of races and regional championships. Recreationally, all kids should have access to public events, which means solving the transportation problem for low-income families.
