Founded in 1998, the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing codes and guidance for health and residential care facilities. We publish the FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction documents, used for planning, design, and construction of hospitals, outpatient facilities, and residential care and support facilities. We lead this effort by overseeing, maintaining, and continuous improvements to the entire four-year revision process, supporting research, and creating (except for EDAC guides) technical resources. All of these drive the development of safe and effective health care built environments. FGI partners with numerous organizations to develop practical, evidence-informed publications.
