Seattle University Master of Arts in Psychology

Acerca de

The Master of Arts in Psychology (MAP) program enjoys an excellent reputation across the Pacific Northwest for the high quality of clinical training that it offers its students. The MAP program is interdisciplinary, bringing together research and reflection from the fields of clinical psychology, philosophy, and the humanities. It has a strong international reputation as a center for qualitative psychological and phenomenological research, much of which arises from intensive mentorship and collaborative relationships formed between program faculty, students, and alumni. The MAP program places a strong emphasis on the ethical dimensions of psychotherapy. Students explore the nature of the therapeutic relationship, the process of making meaning in people's lives, along with cornerstones of traditional diagnosis and practice.

Seattle University is regionally accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and this accreditation applies to the MAP program as well. The MAP program's curriculum meets and exceeds licensure requirements in the State of Washington for the Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential. Our graduates are trained and qualified to enter professional work in counseling, community mental health, psychotherapy and a myriad of other vocational choices across Washington.
