Shyam Bahadur Thapa Development Trust-SBTDT is a Non-Governmental, Non-Profit making organization founded in 2000 to facilitate initiatives in community self- reliance and sustainability and is officially registered in Nuwakot District Administration Office, Bagmati zone, Nepal.
Governed by an eleven member, independent, publicly elected executive board, its mandate is to promote community self-reliance by mobilizing collective action toward sustainable livelihoods.
Started from Samundradevi VDC, at present, it has been working in various fields of local development in Samundradevi VDC and other surrounding VDCs in Nuwakot District. The credit for the firm footing of SBTDT goes to its dedicated founder members, board members, local communities, and donors.
The organization has built a 10,000-liter water tank and collection system that provides drinking water facility to the local community. SBTDT has been actively involved in rebuilding post the Earthquake of April 2015. The organization has successfully completed rebuilding a four classroom building for Samundradevi Higher Secondary School.
Currently, the organization is rebuilding the local Samundra Mai (Durga) temple which totally collapsed during the earthquake.
