Raising A Reader National

The Raising A Reader mission is to foster healthy brain development, parent-child bonding and early literacy skills critical for school success by engaging parents in a routine of daily “book cuddling” with their children from birth to age five.

Raising A Reader is a rapidly growing early literacy nonprofit that through a national network of affiliates, encourages low-income parents with limited literacy and English language skills to share books with their young children by establishing a reading routine that enhances their children’s vocabulary, pre-literacy skills, and family bonding time. Currently, Raising A Reader programs are being implemented in over 175 communities in 34 states through a diverse network of affiliate host organizations. Raising A Reader is a three-time Fast Company/Monitor Institute Social Capitalist Award Winner.
