Misión
Acerca de
Our three areas of programming include Farm to School Education, Access to Local Food, and Farm and Food Business Support. Founded in 2006, Food Roots has been working to improve our North Oregon Coast food system for 12 years, impacting thousands of Tillamook and Clatsop County residents.
A few, but not all, of our recent accomplishments include:
Expanding our Farm to School program and providing over 240 hours of direct lessons, garden-based activities, farm field trips, local produce tastings, and more to over 1,000 Tillamook County youth.
Making over $40,000 in matched capital available for local farmers and food entrepreneurs in Tillamook County through our Individual Development Account matched savings program in partnership with CASA of Oregon, Neighborhood Partnerships, and the state of Oregon.
In partnership with four Tillamook County farmers markets, providing the Double Up Food Bucks program, which doubles the purchasing power of low-income shoppers using SNAP (food stamps) and creates thousands of dollars in additional sales for local farmers.
Providing 12 hours of gardening curriculum to adults in Tillamook County through our free six-week Seed to Supper gardening workshops.
Opening our newly-renovated Food Roots Community Garden at Tillamook Junior High, with 21 indoor and outdoor garden plots, an outdoor educational and event space, and educational signage.
