Acerca de

Founded in 1871, the Baltimore Chapter of The American Institute of Architects is the third oldest in the country. The constitution written by its founders states that "the objects of the chapter are to unite in fellowship the architects of the city, and to combine their efforts so as to promote the artistic, scientific and best ethical standards of the profession."

Throughout this past century, membership and activity in the Baltimore Chapter have grown and changed. The chapter's educational programming for members and the general public has expanded. Committees have multiplied and broadened to address issues important to architects, and AIABaltimore has responded to individuals' needs, to the maturing profession, and to global events.

As we enter the next century, we will continue this proactive approach to architecture and its role in our city and the nation. AIABaltimore, based in a city of neighborhoods, was the first AIA chapter to join the global village with its own website. Our new site has been designed to acknowledge the increasing needs of our membership and the public for convenient and instant access to information and services.
