Active since 2003, The Friends of the Haverford Township Free Library is a volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization devoted to helping the library enrich the lives of community residents.
All Friends are volunteers. All of our proceeds are donated to the library. The money we have raised has helped fund the Summer Reading Program and other special programs, purchased books, CDs, DVDs, computers, furnishings, and other items.
Our contributions to the library, $150,000 as of March 2015, have benefited our township’s citizens, from toddlers to seniors and the homebound. We were awarded the John & Mary Lou Toal Award of Honor in 2007.
What We DoThe Friends raise funds through two book sales, designer bag bingo, a silent auction at the library gala, and membership dues. All of these funds are then donated to the library for specific acquisitions, programs, and services. In addition to this central fundraising work, the Friends strive to:
