The New York Institute for Special Education's mission is to provide quality educational programs and support to the students and families in a safe, caring environment, to awaken and inspire student curiosity, lifelong learning and fulfillment.

Founded in 1832, the New York Institute for Special Education is one of the oldest and most distinguished institutions of its kind in the United States. Located on a beautiful 17-acre campus in the Bronx, NYISE provides specialized education for blind, low-vision, and special-needs students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Every member of our team — from the classroom to the campus grounds — plays a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for our students.
