The YMCA of greater NY is a 501©3 nonprofit community service organization which promotes positive values through programs that build spirit, mind and body, welcoming all people, with a focus on youth. The YMCA prepares youth for success in life through programs that build self-esteem and teach important skills using an assets-based approach. The YMCA believes that building competence and confidence in youth is accomplished by enhancing literacy, emphasizing service learning and teaching healthy behavior and positive values. The YMCA seeks to prevent violence, criminal activity, educational failure, substance abuse and teen pregnancy through its youth programs. The Ridgewood YMCA services south western queens and north east Brooklyn providing adults and youth with a variety of services.
