Misión
The expansion and promotion of research and the improvement of the teaching and learning of modern world languages, literatures, linguistics, and cultures by a variety of activities including but not limited to grants, awards, and the publication of The Modern Language Journal (MLJ).

Established in 1916, the membership of the NFMLTA now includes 21 associations representing those involved in the teaching of modern languages.
