Lokalex

Lokalex (Local Community Exchange Empowerment Trust) is a non-profit based in Chennai, India. Our vision is to make villages self-sufficient in all their needs in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Gram Swaraj’. We work primarily in South Indian villages, providing technical and financial support in establishing self-sustainable local enterprises.

One of our main programs is aimed at improving education in rural South India. Through our Teach.Engage.Mentor.Donate. program, children are mentored over the internet by dedicated mentors all over the world. Mentors provide the children a learning and nurturing environment , which enriches their lives beyond the limited and often poor education they get in underfunded rural schools.
