Blessed Low Income Senior Support (BLISS), supports low income and underserved seniors who are aging in place in our community through our network of dedicated care partners and provide them with access to resources through our fundraising efforts. We serve low-income seniors in mobile home parks and subsidized housing, bridging the gap to caregivers through partnerships with home care agencies.
In East County, we serve a low income senior population, aged 65 and living with disabilities. This community faces significant challenges due to poverty, and disabilities like blindness and limited mobility. We prioritize inclusivity, serving seniors based on need without discrimination and instead focus on those with immediate care needs. We partner with state-licensed, bonded agencies to hire qualified, registered, and trained non-medical caregivers to assist with daily activities such as bathing, meal preparation and transportation at no cost to the beneficiary.
We facilitate connections to community support and provide companionship through volunteer programs. We help to connect our seniors to benefits that are available in our area. Through collaboration with social service providers and community members, we ensure our services meet the diverse needs of seniors. Our community liaison will counsel on best practices, and input given by the seniors to promote independence and self-advocacy.
We have established partnerships with local volunteer organizations such as Hands on San Diego and Teen Volunteers in Action, which connects us with dedicated individuals eager to contribute their time and skills. We have a trusted relationship with local churches, schools, and youth organizations to engage teens in meaningful service opportunities. Through our relationships with the local chamber of commerce, we also tap into a network of community-minded businesses and individuals.
