Jagaran Media Center

Jagaran Media Center (JMC) is an organization established by a group of young Dalit journalists in order to protect and promote the rights of Dalits using mass media. JMC mainly promotes the rights of Dalits and minorities people by organizing discussions and interaction programs. It executes journalist training and publishes books related to Dalit rights. JMC also operates Radio station, Resource Centres, Radio Programs and Television Serial.

JMC has its main office in Kathmandu, with a regional office in Butwal. To date, JMC has received funding and support from numerous organizations and agencies, including the UNDP, CARE Nepal, Finnish Embassy, ITDG, SDC, DED, DOEN, Austra-Aid, DFID/DEIP, ActionAid and DANIDA/HUGOU.

Since its establishment, JMC has implemented various programs focusing to Dalit issues to raise awareness at the local, national and international levels. By working with and creating awareness among both Dalit and non-Dalit, JMC's ultimate goal is to create an equitable society free from all forms of discriminations.
