    The Westchester Community Foundation (WCF) is the community foundation for Westchester County, New York. It was created in 1975 as a division of The New York Community Trust (NYCT), a public, nonprofit organization created in 1924 to administer individual charitable trust funds. Through its grants and special projects, the Westchester Community Foundation seeks to develop youth, build community, help meet basic needs, protect the environment, and strengthen the capacity of local nonprofit organizations.

    The mission of the Westchester Community Foundation is to develop, manage, and distribute philanthropic funds in a way that is highly responsive to community needs and donor interests and to provide leadership in addressing the challenges faced by the county’s residents and nonprofit organizations.

    The Westchester Community Foundation awarded $4.8 million in grants in 2010. Grants are made in four major areas: Children, Youth and Families; Community Development and the Environment; Education, Arts, and the Humanities; and Health and People with Special Needs.
