Youth Pride, Inc.

Youth Pride, Inc. (YPI) is the only statewide nonprofit organization in Rhode Island with programming dedicated to meet the social, emotional and educational needs of youth and young adults impacted by sexual orientation and gender. YPI’s goal is twofold: 1) to eliminate society’s current prejudice against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (lgbtqq) youth and 2) to provide the necessary social services to empower lgbtqq youth to live healthy, full lives. YPI believes strongly in the necessity of a systemic approach to alleviate the obstacles faced by lgbtqq youth as their individual difficulties often stem directly from the homophobic environments in which they live, study, work and play. The organization works to attack the underlying causes of the difficulties for lgbtqq youth while providing the services they need to advocate for their own change.
