Why Monica is running:
"I am running because we need an advocate with energy and determination to stand up for residents and get them the resources and support we deserve. Like many families in the district, my family has faced crime and violence, but instead of moving out or shutting ourselves in, I chose to stand up and take action.
Our district needs an advocate not only for our children and families, but also for our young men and women coming home from prison, seeking to do right and make a new life.
As a proud product of a grandmother that never took no for an answer, I am a tireless advocate. My history as a community activist on issues of peace, quality public education, criminal justice reform and community development make me uniquely qualified to represent the 7th Suffolk district and it would be my honor to do so.
On Sept 8th, I humbly ask for your vote for state representative."
