Morgan State University: Center for Maternal Health Research
Acerca de
Morgan State University is at the forefront of addressing a critical public health crisis through the proposed establishment of the Morgan State University Maternal Health Disparities Research Center (MSU-MH-RC). In partnership with the Baltimore community and under the guidance of the Maternal Health Research Collaborative for Minority-Serving Institutions Coordinating Center (MH-RC-MSI-CC), our mission is clear: to delve into the underlying causes of the rising maternal mortality and morbidity rates among Non-Hispanic Black women in the United States. This initiative is driven by a comprehensive approach that recognizes the multifaceted nature of maternal health disparities. In alignment with our mission, the MSU-MH-RC is committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that bridges the gap between academic research and community needs. Through community-informed and community-based participatory research, the center is dedicated to devising and implementing strategies that directly benefit African American women during the critical periods of birthing and postpartum.
