SPID Theatre

S.P.I.D. (Social Political Innovative Direct) is an arts charity that aims to build a sense of community and to empower council estates through access to high quality theatre and arts projects. We create adventurous and immersive theatrical work in non-traditional spaces. We are based in the community rooms of the historic modernist council estate of Kensal House.

Reimagining Goldfinger builds on SPID’s award winning Trellick Tales project, which featured on the BBC, was pick of the week in Time Out and won a Clore Prize. The project explores the heritage of West London’s Cheltenham Estate, comprising blocks such as Trellick Tower and Edenham Way. The project started in June 2016 with oral history interviews, the creation of a documentary and an exhibition at the V&A. We are now in our third and final phase, which involves the creation of a dramatised public tour of the estate.
