Save Our Mountains Foundation (SOMF) has, since 1973, been instrumental and in helping create and protect the open space land area known as the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. SOMF is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to support the facilitate the preservation, protection, and conservation of the Preserve. SOMF strives to accomplish this through directly donating land, preserving resources, and education the public to appreciate this asset through interactive programming. As a part of its mission, in 2011, SOMF became the managing organization in a collaborative group that operates the North Mountain Visitor Center.
