Acerca de

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer, and funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support.

LLS was established in 1949, when leukemia was fatal in 100% of cases. Since then, LLS has been a critical partner in a number of milestones in cancer treatment, including the funding of every blood cancer therapy breakthrough. Survival rates for blood cancers have increased dramatically. For example, in 1964, a child’s chance of surviving acute lymphoblastic leukemia was only 3%; today the survival rate is 92%. Another blood caner, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, has seen a rapid increase of survival rates from only 30% twenty years ago to over 80% today. While LLS has made great strides, and is continuing to fund research projects that are improving the prognosis of all blood cancer patients, there is still a critical need for both research and patient services.
